PMI can bore and sleeve a wide variety of cylinders. We rough bore the cylinders to be square to the mains in the block, and then finish the cylinders with a wet power hone. We have many torque “stress” plates for types of different engines, and we do all kinds of gas and diesel engines, as well as, blind hole outboard cylinders, ATV and PWC cylinders. We have the PR-9 sonic tester by Dakota Ultrasonics that is dedicated for the racing industry to test the thickness of your cylinder walls. We also have a Profilameter to be able to achieve the right ring finish for your application.
PMI repairs line bores using many techniques. Usually, we prefer to rough in the line bore with a horizontal boring bar and finish with a wet Horizontal Power Hone, and we can sleeve the line bore if necessary. PMI also installs aftermarket billet caps, aluminum caps, cast-iron caps, some used caps, and engine main bearing girdles.
Upper Counterbores
We repair upper counterbores and lower sealing areas in many different types of engines. It is important that the upper counterbores all maintain the same height. In some cases, a higher wet sleeve standout will increase the sealing effect of the head gasket.
Lower Counterbores
With lower counterbores, there is a problem called electrolysis, which causes pitting and other forms of degradation in the lower O-ring sealing area in the cylinder block. PMI can repair or re-sleeve the sealing areas on both upper and lower regions. Allis Chambers, Caterpillar C15, Cummins and Detroit 60 series to name a few. We can repair them!
We can deck different surfaces on a cylinder block. We Square deck V-Blocks, and In-Line Blocks as well as Aluminum or Cast Iron, Gas or Diesel, Large or Small. We can deck the pan rails and even Main Caps for Girdles on many blocks such as GM Duramax, IHC DT / Maxx Force, and John Deere to name a few.
We want to know your needs exactly so that we can provide the perfect solution. Let us know what you want and we’ll do our best to help.
